Blues Roar Back to Form, Reclaiming Top Spot!!
With storm Éowyn on the horizon, the Blue's coaching team urged the ref to get the game underway quickly after the pitch inspection. They lined up in a 4-1-4-1 formation, aiming to utilise their high press from the start. Within 2 minutes, a monstrous throw-in from Will found Theo's head in the box. He flicked a header toward the goalkeeper, who fumbled the ball to Jacob, who capitalised on the mistake, making it 1-0.
A minute later, they executed a move straight off the training ground. Dexter, standing over the corner flag, signaled Jacob to make a run at the keeper. Dexter then floated a perfect ball to the centre of the goal, and Theo ran onto it, heading past the flustered keeper to make it 2-0.
Despite the wet pitch, the Blue's maintained full control, knocking the ball around nicely and creating chance after chance. It didn't take long before Theo, on one of his trademark runs, was upended in the box. He stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way, making it 3-0.
The Blue's weren't finished yet. They pressed relentlessly, earning another throw-in. No danger there—until Alfie hurled another missile into the box, allowing Theo to score yet another header, making it 4-0.
As halftime approached, the Blue's showed no signs of slowing down. Another dangerous corner from Dexter fell to Finley's feet. The defender's strike rebounded into the path of Alfie, who smashed it into the net for 5-0.
In the second half, Alfie added another goal after a lovely unselfish pass from Mylo, bringing the score to 6-0.
To maintain their lead, the coaching team shifted to a 4-2-3-1 formation to better manage the uphill challenge. With this the Blue's continued to dominate, creating numerous chances but were unable to add to their tally. With the high press, Withdean were worn out, and the Blue's solid defence secured the clean sheet, thanks to Oscar's positive communication with Will, Jude, Sam, and Charlie. The defence now looks solid, with Finley controlling the pitch from CDM.
Player of the match honours went to Theo for his dominant performance, setting the tempo for his team from start to finish.
Every player on the pitch should be congratulated for their performance. Let Go Blues!!
